I wonder what it's like to renounce everything you own. To let go of earthly possessions that we obsess over every second of the day. So often we put our physical possessions over what's really important. Checking our phone while were out with family instead of living in the moment or spending money on things we really don't need when people are struggling to afford the bare necessities. I admit that I am one of those people who is always checking their phone and going shopping just for fun. Why is that ? Is it because some people have never had to struggle or need anything. Imagine going from rag to riches in an instant for an experiment or a project. You can't go back to your house or use your phone. Learning to live like a person on the street. That would be such an eye-opening experience. Siddhartha let go of everything he knew in order to truly realize what he needed in his life.
"Siddhartha leaned against the trunk, with his shoulder, embraced the trunk with one arm, and looked down until the green water, which ran and ran under him, looked down and found himself to be entirely filled with the wish to let go and drown in these waters."(772)
Imagine what it's like to take a look in the mirror and not want to be you anymore. This is a daily struggle that many people will go through in their lives. We tend to compare our lives to the people around us and wish we had what they had or looked how they looked. Accepting our imperfections is one of the hardest things teens go through. When you go on twitter and see these girls or guys who look so happy and seem to have their lives together all the time. One thing we have to realize is that not everything is as it seems. Everyone's lives are not perfect even though they may appear to be on instagram. Sometimes however it is good to let go of the person we once were so we can become the person we are truly meant to be. During our lives we are going to grow and change. During the process, it is important to be patient and trust that everything is happening for a reason. At orientation I attended the healthy horns session. They gave a sticker that said, "Be kind to yourself, you're doing the best you can." I thought this was very interesting, because we are usually our toughest critics. In the end, everything will work out for the best and if it isn't the best, then it's not the end.

"In those days, so he remembered, he had boasted of three things to Kamala, had been able to do three noble and undefinable feats: fasting-waiting-thinking."(776)
One of the hardest things for most people to do is to live in the moment. To not focus on anything else but what is happening right in front of them. Not worrying about the paper due tomorrow or the test next week. Just simply enjoying the presence of those around you or simply meditating in the present moment. Waiting for something to happen or not happen can make a person go crazy. We always want an answer now rather than later. We are always told to be patient and wait for everything to work out, but that is never easy. Our minds start to draw conclusions and we think of every possible scenario where something can go wrong. We tend to over-analyze the situation and make things way more complicated than they need to be. "Wait for the LORD; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the LORD.(Psalm 27:14) Even when it comes to God and our faith we are constantly being tested. When we pray for something, most times we get frustrated or discouraged waiting for an answer. Sometimes God's plans are different from ours and we have to understand that He knows what's best!
